Government ID Verification Bug

The human.tech and Passport teams have acknowledged verification issues affecting government ID and phone verification. This page summarizes the most common problems and how to resolve them.

Verification Restrictions

To preserve Sybil resistance, human.tech enforces strict verification limits:

  • Each user can complete verification only once and submit valid proof a single time.
  • One wallet per identity is allowed. Attempting to verify with multiple wallets will fail.

”Already Registered” Error

This error indicates that the verification was previously completed. In this case, the only available remedy is to pursue a refund through human.tech.

Compromised Wallet Scenario

If your wallet is compromised, you cannot change wallet addresses or revoke existing proofs. You will need to wait until your verification expires in one year before re-verifying with a new wallet. A refund may be available in the meantime.

Failed Verification Attempts

  • You can retry verification — previously failed fees are automatically applied to the next attempt.
  • After multiple failures, you may qualify for a refund.
  • Payment errors generally receive automatic remediation, so retrying is usually safe.

Technical Troubleshooting

If you experience issues on the payment page:

  1. Clear your browser cache.
  2. Restart your browser.
  3. Retry the verification.

After Payment

Once payment is complete, proceed directly on the human.tech website. You do not need to wait for confirmation or contact support before continuing.
